A free desktop app for Windows and macOS to manage your Dynamics 365 F&O and Power Platform environments — now with a full AOT browser and X++ editor, and an MCP server for Claude.
FinOps Workbench brings every environment in your tenant into a single window — Dataverse, Unified Developer Environments (UDE) and LCS-managed F&O. Inspect them, request just-in-time SQL access, run queries in a built-in workspace, download Lifecycle Services assets, and hand the whole thing to an AI assistant through its Model Context Protocol server. No SQL client, no ODBC driver, no PowerShell — one native app for Windows and macOS.
Point FinOps Workbench at an environment, click Get sources, and browse all ~240,000 objects — tables, classes, forms, security, labels — with cross-references resolved from the metadata itself: no DYNAMICSXREFDB restore, no SQL Server. Open any object in a compiler-accurate X++ editor with kind-aware colouring, go-to-definition and IntelliSense, and edit your own models with saves that diff cleanly in Git — all without Visual Studio.
The X++ editor in one shot — kind-aware colouring, IntelliSense and multi-tab editing, with a custom class open for editing. (Contoso demo, dark theme.)
Honest limits: editing is for custom-model objects only — standard Microsoft code stays read-only — and form data-source/control code is view-only (the app won’t save it rather than risk the XML). It doesn’t compile or deploy.
Explore an environment’s complete Application Object Tree — ~240,000 objects — indexed locally from its metadata, with cross-references and read-only form/table designers. No SQL Server, no DYNAMICSXREFDB restore.
A compiler-accurate X++ editor with kind-aware colouring, go-to-definition and IntelliSense. Edit your own models with saves that diff cleanly in Git — no Visual Studio required.
List every Dataverse, UDE and LCS-managed F&O environment in your tenant — with live state, SKU, capacity, URLs and versions. Provision, copy, delete, sync and view lifecycle history.
Request a time-boxed Reader or Read-write SQL grant for an F&O or UDE database in a couple of clicks, scoped to your current IP — with a ready-to-use connection string. Dataverse orgs need no grant at all.
An SSMS-style workspace — object tree, query editor and results grid — for F&O and Dataverse databases. No SQL client or ODBC driver to install; a TDS client is built in.
A built-in Model Context Protocol server lets Claude Desktop or Claude Code use your signed-in session as tools — list environments, read F&O details and run SQL in plain language. Read-only by default.
Download and track VHDs, deployable and data packages, database backups (bacpacs) and developer tools, with per-item progress and a download library that remembers what you have.
Sign in once with your Microsoft Entra ID account (MFA supported) — no tenant id, client id or secret to configure. Tokens are stored encrypted on your machine, and the MCP endpoint stays localhost-only.

Every environment in one grid — kind, state, SKU, location, capacity and versions.
Version 1.0.18 · free, no sign-up. On Windows, get it from the Microsoft Store for a one-click install with automatic updates — or download directly for Windows and macOS.
Windows · one-click install, automatic updates, no SmartScreen prompt. View in the Microsoft Store
The Microsoft Store build is fully signed. The directWindows installers aren’t code-signed, so SmartScreen may warn on first run — choose More info → Run anyway. The macOS builds are signed & notarized and open without warnings. Not sure which Windows build? The combined installer auto-selects your architecture. View all releases.
Download the build for your OS and run it. Windows installs per-user (no admin rights); on macOS, open the .dmg and drag the app to Applications.
Sign in with your Microsoft Entra ID account (MFA supported). Your environments load automatically and your session is remembered.
Select an F&O/UDE environment, request a just-in-time grant, then open the SQL Workspace.
Open the MCP Server page, click Start, then add it to Claude Code or Claude Desktop.
Turn on the MCP server and ask Claude things like “list my environments and tell me which are UDEs” or “run this SQL on Contoso Dev”. Read operations are on by default; write operations stay opt-in, so the assistant only changes things when you let it.
